課程簡介
This is an advanced course designed for students enrolled in Ph.D. programmes. This course aims to introduce students to the conceptual issues and current best practices in quantitative methods for behavioral research. The primary purposes of this course are to equip students with the knowledge to conduct data analysis with structural equation modeling using R and Mplus. The course will be delivered in a seminar format.
課程內容
1. Introduction to SEM with R – Path Analysis
2. Introduction to SEM with R – Confirmatory Factor Analysis
3. Introduction to SEM with R – Structural Model
4. Multiple-group Analysis and Measurement Equivalence/Invariance with R
5. Latent Growth Curve Modeling and Cross-Lagged Panel Model with R
6. Testing Mediation, Moderation and Moderated Mediation with Latent Variables with Mplus
7. Introduction to Multilevel Data Analysis and Analysis of Experience Sampling Method/Daily Diary Data with Mplus
8. Paper Development

授課教師簡介
Prof. Gordon Cheung joined the University of Auckland Business School in January 2016 as Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Distinguished Chair Professor at the National Taiwan University. Before joining the University of Auckland, he served as the Associate Vice President and Professor in the Department of Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He obtained his BBA from CUHK and his PhD in management from Virginia Tech. He is internationally recognized as an expert in structural equation modeling, especially in measurement equivalence/invariance, confirmatory factor analysis, and estimation of moderating and mediating effects in complex latent variable models. He has published more than 25 articles on research methodologies, which have been cited over 30,000 times. He is ranked among the world’s top 40,000 scientists in a study by scholars at Stanford University (Bass, Boyack, & Ioannidis, 2025), based on his career-long impact as measured by a composite indicator using Scopus data. He is also among the top 10,000 scientists globally in terms of impact in 2024. Gordon received twice the Sage Best Paper Award from the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management (2000 and 2009), the Best Published Paper Award in Organisational Research Methods in 2008, and the 2022 University of Auckland Business School Research Excellence Award. He served as the Division Chair of the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management in 2006/07.
The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) conferred Gordon the Life Fellow Award in 2024, the most prestigious honour ANZAM awards members for outstanding service and leadership in management education, research, and practice.
Gordon is an enthusiastic teacher who has taught undergraduate-level international business, management, and organizational behavior, as well as graduate-level research methods and structural equation modeling courses. He has received many teaching awards, including the Vice-Chancellor Exemplary Teacher Award (2000) and the Faculty of Business Administration Outstanding Teacher Award (2002/03) at CUHK.
