The course is aimed for business majored students who are interest at applying machine learning method to analyze business data. Students are expected to learn the methods of major techniques in this area, including classification such as AI based methods, SVM, and Decision Trees, Association rules and possibly clustering. Besides learning the methods in the lecture session, a TA session is also offered to help students learning Python to conduct data analysis. The goal is to equip students with fundamental capability to conduct academic and practical research in business analytics. The capability at least includes the knowledge of applying correct methods for various problems and evaluate the analysis result. Programming experience is not required but the knowledge of some programing language is definitely helpful.

Dr. Ping-Yu Hsu earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University, a master's degree in Computer Science from New York University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Business Administration at National Central University and serves as Secretary-in-Chief of the Chinese ERP Society. He has received numerous research honors at NCU, including the Distinguished Professorship and the Outstanding Research Award.Dr. Hsu has held several senior administrative positions at National Central University, including Vice President for International Affairs, Dean of the School of Management, and Executive Vice President. His research focuses on data-driven decision-making in business, employing techniques such as business analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. He also explores organizational digital transformation and the impact of technology on consumer behavior.
